Aim and objective

The aim of this course is to give the basics, principals, and skills that can be used in image processing for the following applications: segmentation, analysis, compression...

Outcome learning

  • INSA reference data :
    • Concevoir un système d'ingénierie des données [3P]
    • Mettre en oeuvre des processus de vision [3P]
  • CNISF reference data :

Course description

  • Binary image processing
  • Image quality improvement
  • Image compression
  • Image segmentation
  • Texture characterization
  • Region representation

The practical will cover vision systems, which will allow putting into practice all the material studied during the course, especially the improvement of image quality. The latter will be done by the manipulation of contrast or noise reduction. Besides, the image compression and segmentation by boundary detection will be done by using classical operators or area growth.

The tutorial projects will be proposed in the field of scene analysis or medical imaging.

Prerequisites

Signal processing, Numerical Linear Algebra for engineers
